ABOUT THE BEAN
In the misty highlands of Yirgacheffe, coffee grows slowly under cool mountain air and fertile soils, developing the delicate character that has made this origin legendary. This Ethiopia Yirgacheffe opens with soft florals and lemongrass brightness, followed by a gentle green tea elegance and a subtle peach sweetness that lingers on the palate. Light, clean, and beautifully composed, the cup feels almost weightless while still carrying depth and clarity. Certified organic and scoring 87.5, it is a graceful expression of Ethiopian coffee that rewards slow, thoughtful sipping.
FARM STORY
This coffee comes from producer Melaku Negash in the Chelba area of Ethiopia’s southern highlands, where heirloom coffee trees grow at elevations between 1,900 and 2,100 meters. On these small, carefully tended farms, cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and fully washed before being dried slowly on raised beds for 10 to 12 days under natural sunlight. The high elevation, organic cultivation, and patient drying process allow the coffee to retain its floral aromatics, tea-like body, and bright citrus lift. In regions like Yirgacheffe, coffee is grown with a deep respect for land and tradition, and Melaku’s farm reflects that same philosophy, producing a clean, elegant cup that carries the essence of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing landscapes.
